Ohio Counties

Ohio has 88 counties, each with its own health department and probate court that handle obituary and death records. The county health department issues death certificates for deaths from 1908 forward. The probate court keeps older records from 1867 to 1908, plus wills, estates, and marriage files. Fees and office hours can vary from one county to the next. Select a county below to find local contact info, addresses, phone numbers, and resources for obituary records in that area.
